Tatra In La Carrera Panamericana???

While attending a car show in Mexico my good friend Jorge from Queretero came upon this beast. It is a Czechoslovakian built Tatra which supposedly took part in the 1989 La Carrera Panamericana. Jorge is attempting to find out more about the car and it's involvment in LCP but should anyone else know anything about it please drop me a note.

Personally, I have never heard about a Tatra competing in the famous Mexican rally. Yet, a Tatraplan was raced in Mexico in the early fifties. French driver Jean Trévoux won a 80 km race at Chapultepec near Mexico in 1951, June 10th. The car was a Tatraplan and he finished the race in 42m 41s 2/5, 112.341 km/h. Sadly to say for Tatra enthusiasts, Jean Trévoux, a well known rally driver and Rally Monte Carlo winner in the late thirties, http://forums.autosport.com/lofiversion/index.php/t90544.html, competed in all Carrera Panamercanas but never with a Tatraplan.
